The Morning Dew-Part 1

I have way too many "dew" photos to put them all in one post, but then that probably doesn't surprise you if you've read this blog for any length of time. It is an understatement to say that I am fascinated by the early morning sunlight and the way it bounces off of the dew on the grass.

It started about 2 weeks ago when I left for work on the first sunny day we'd had following a string of cool rainy days. As I walked toward my car, I noticed the twinkling water drops and stopped dead in my tracks. The warm sun was beaming at just the right angle, and it danced across the dew. I opened up the camera bag on my shoulder and snapped off a couple of photos. When I downloaded them later I was smitten. Ever since then I have eyeballed the sunrise each morning before I head to work, and if the conditions are right I roll off several shots. On more than one occasion the neighbors have passed by while I was crouched in the wet grass on a beach towel. I don't care. I'm in love with the dew.

And the way that it sparkles.

It clings to the grass in such a delicate way, poised to soak up the sun.

Sometimes it balances on the tip of a blade with the precision of a tightrope walker.

And you wonder how it can hang on for so long.

Each time I study this early morning display I think about a phrase my preacher says often, "God doesn't make junk."
