And Now She Can Vote

And buy porn. And lottery tickets. And join the military. And get married. And all kinds of other things without her parents' permission. My baby turned eighteen today. And while I could sit around and wax and wane about my mixed bag of emotions that constantly race between pride and sadness, I shall shut my pie hole and just enjoy the moment.
The highlight of the day? The ceremonial (and painful) piercing of the belly button. (Sorry about the blur. Somebody wouldn't be still.)

Oy vey. All I can say is it's better than a tattoo that she might later regret.

My granddaughter did this last year, and had a hell of a time with infection/allergy/irritation. Hope you guys have better luck.

Yikes! You know I don't envy you. Surely Andria will do the same thing on her 18th birthday, pierce her belly button. The next day she'll want a tattoo *sigh*

We still have a ways to go. Yippee!!!!

Oh, how I remember turning 18. I was so excited that I could write my own "permission slips" and "please excuse me from missing school" notes at school.

Oh...how times have changed.

Awww, happy birthday to Teen Angel! As a parent I would definitely prefer a piercing over a tattoo. I'm sure your daughter will make you proud as she goes through life. My daughter certainly has (today is her 29th birthday), and I was worried that she'd be a little hellion like me. Thank God, that didn't happen. From your posts, it seems your daughter has a good head on her shoulders. It'll all be fine. Yes, enjoy these moments. :)

Just a comment from an old fart whose opinion won't matter to TA, but ... "Ew!" I never understood the bb-piercing, unless you've got great abs and you want everyone to notice. But even then... "Ew!"

Belly button piercing isn't so bad. At least she didn't pierce her toungue or eye brow or nose. Or, is that next?? LOL.

Happy Birthday TA!!!!!!
