This is a good one. Jan has come up with a fun topic for this week's Fun Monday assignment:
What is the quirkiest thing in your home that you will never give away?
We've had all kinds of odd stuff around this house throughout our marriage, usually for decoration of some sort. When I married Hubby he had some, shall we say, unusual interior decorations. Like the John Wayne statue that sat on the end table. And the remote control cubby shaped like a duck. Those items have disappeared as we've remodeled over the years, but we still have some quirky stuff that we WON'T get rid of. Like this print that hangs in a bathroom.Hubby and I found this many years ago, B.C. (before childbirth), when we had plenty of time to putz around in antique stores on the weekend and didn't have to worry about little hands breaking fragile expensive things. I don't know the photographer responsible for the print or its age, but when we saw it, we knew we wanted it. We cleaned it up, had it framed and put it where it seemed most appropriate, right over the toilet. It makes me smile every day when I look at it. He seems so determined...and focused. And frankly, I love the way his flabby little butt cheek hangs over the edge of the pot.
Another quirky item in our home came from an antique store, although it's not old. Hubby fell in love with it, brought it home and proudly declared that he bought it because it just seemed to fit us for some unexplainable reason. I agreed. I love it, and it screams Hula-gen's, but I just don't know why. I can't imagine us ever getting rid of it. It sits on a window sill in the garage. And the last item I'll share today is...ta da! Mr. Peanut. You guessed it. This came from an antique store, too. We put peanuts in it and set it out during parties. It's a fun conversation piece. In the summer, Hubby keeps peanuts in it and munches on them while he's piddling around in the garage or doing yard work.
That's about the only stuff in this house quirkier than the people who live in it, so head on off to Jan's and see the items everyone else has. I'm headed that way myself. This is bound to be interesting.

Love all your quirky stuff, especially love the potty picture, that little guy is really concentrating on what he is trying to do. Hippie, are you guys old enough to be of the hippie generation?? Groovey! Last but not least, Mr peanut, he sure is a blast from the past.
What a great FM post. My fave is the Hippie sign. I'm old enough, for awhile we were, The Cop and the Hippie. If these disappear from your home, I be the prime suspect.
That photo and those chubby cheeks are just to die for!
All of these are just super!!!! Love the entire post. Great stuff.
Happy Fun Monday
I love the sign. I have one that says, "In 1845 nothing happened here." Bwhahahahaha!
I'll bet once the childbirth thing happened, you appreciated your bathroom art even more!
Cute times three. These are the type things that make a house a home, add a unique flavor to it. My favorite is the first photo--that age is the only age where "chubby cheeks" is considered cute!
Since I love peanuts, though, I'm sure I look forward to seeing that container at parties; I'd do my part to empty it again ;).
I love that sign!!!
And that picture is so cute, perfect for a bathroom!
Those are great and I love the hippies sign (I am my mother's daughter.)
OH FINE! I will use the side door, but Im not brushing my hair or wearing any shoes! And I shall wear the worst tye die outfit I can find in my closet, and arrive when all your posh friends are visiting! So There! LOL!
Love that potty picture too very cute!
I just love that picture, in fact I like all three. I think the 'kitschy' Mr Peanut is rather cute!
This sure was a Fun Monday! I enjoyed all your quirky things! Especially the picture of the little guy on the potty. How cute! I would never want to get rid of him either.
Being a Hippie, I guess that I will using the side door. The potty picture is very cute.
Love love love your photos! I especially like the bathroom art. I am sorry it took so long to make it over this way, but I am glad it did. I was able to read more of your writings. I will definately be back.
